VBS OVERVIEW -

2010 High Seas Adventure

We had a FABULOUS VBS !
Our Church Family really caught the vision this year !

159 people volunteered their time and talents, some after working 8 hours plus commuting to Seattle ! Some on our team used their vacation days to come and serve.   Men, women, Grandparents, Teens, and even volunteers from other churches
shared the love of Jesus with an average of 163 children a night during our High Seas Adventure this year.

Our Registration Team did an awesome job welcoming and organizing all the Crews ! (NOT a small job and very important !)

The entire week was A LOT of fun, high energy, and lots of laughs !   The children thoroughly enjoyed every single activity and special treat we had prepared for them:   Wacky skits, enthusiastic praise with music and motions, a cinema with group discussions and God Sightings, fun water games, very popular crafts, and excellent, interactive Bible lessons.

We had an incredible team of loving volunteers in our Nursery and also leading the VBS Preschool activities and lessons.   Everyone did an excellent job !

VBS is a wonderful way to make new friends and connect with people at Crossroad’s !   Lots of social time and a rich prayer time before we started each night really added to the fun and unity we experienced.

We are very thankful for our fantastic Kitchen Team who served us delicious dinners every night and made creative “To Go” Snacks for the children to enjoy.

Each evening, the children of our VBS Volunteers happily played and enjoyed games before and after VBS while their parents were busy serving.   Thank you to our Before and After Team !!

Our Decorating Team of 15 Volunteers did an amazing job (during a heat wave) of transforming each area of our building – including the creation of a Cave where we held Chapel this year and the awesome Ship the children loved and played on in the lobby.   Thank you !

As soon as the last child had left, our hardworking Clean Up Team jumped right to work disassembling it all and carefully storing it for future use.     And, our patient Tech Team – who faithfully shared their time and talents with us during many rehearsals and every night of VBS…   We want to thank them, too !

Every night, children burst through the doors with ear to ear grins, excited for another night of fun learning.     We received many compliments from pleased parents about how much they appreciated our organization and security.   Our VBS Team is well trained and it was very evident we place safety, and children, as a high priority.

This year we partnered with Children of the Nations for our VBS Mission Project – Smile Packs for Children in Need.   After our VBS Sunday BB-Q, the children filled donated backpacks with the school supplies they brought in during VBS and packed them for shipment overseas by COTN.

Even AFTER VBS we were positively impacting the lives of children !!!

Thank you to everyone who helped distribute VBS invitations !

And we very much appreciate the businesses that helped us this year:
Cooper’s Fuel on Wheaton Way again shared their billboard and advertised for us 2 full weeks for free.    Pizza Time helped us advertise with 250 of our fliers on their pizza boxes and we received excellent coverage from our local newspapers, thanks to the perseverance of our Publicity Director.

Teletek donated 6 backpacks, Costco donated school supplies, QFC, Pepsi, and Coke all donated cases of bottled water and Advanced Assembly Circuit Boards of Colorado donated $500, which we used to purchase 100 of the 353 backpacks we collected.

The atmosphere during VBS was one of love and praise and good, clean fun !   God’s Word was lifted up and faithfully taught in many creative ways.   God used us powerfully in the lives of His precious children and we are truly grateful for all the ways He blessed our efforts.

Without a doubt, Vacation Bible School is the most effective evangelistic outreach we offer as a church each year.   It’s also a wonderful example of how each member of this church has a unique and important part to play for the success of an entire event.   There truly is a place for everyone to serve at VBS and every single person is a vital and valued member of the team.    And, a huge thank you to our VBS Coordinators (their 2nd year) - Jody and Kelley Shuffield, who pulled us all together and devoted many months of hard work to make this event possible.

And, NOW, the responsibility before us is to disciple these new believers… Young people are the future of the Church of Christ !   Jesus was very clear that we are to be teaching His Word and His principles to our children.

If you would like to be a part of what God is doing here at Crossroad’s in our Children’s Ministries Sunday mornings, please contact me !   I guarantee I can find a place for you to serve in a way that is well suited to your unique gifts and interests.   And, you   will   have  fun

Because Jesus loves children (and so do we !)

Director of Children's Ministries
